The TECHE Project has installed 15 official Bayou Teche/Lower Atchafalaya River National Paddle Trail Docks. The Bayou Teche Paddle Trail is now complete! Breaux Bridge represents our first full-service trailhead, but many other sites are located in city parks and boat launches with additional facilities. In addition, there is an unofficial paddle trail access point in Arnaudville at Bayou Teche Brewing that is open to the public. Below is a listing of all of the access locations by river mile.

Arnaudville (Mile 19.0): Full-service trailhead with dock, pavilion and restroom at 1023 Neblet St., next to Myran’s Maison de Manger restaurant.

Arnaudville (Mile 19.4): Unofficial Bayou Teche Brewing Company dock located at the end of Noth Road. Follow the signs from LA Hwy. 734 at the brewery.

Poche’s Bridge (Mile 29.5): Official dock and pavilion located behind Poche’s Market at 3015 Main Hwy. in Breaux Bridge.

Breaux Bridge (Mile 34.1): Full-service trailhead with dock and restroom facilities in Parc des Ponts at 120 St. Bernard St.

Loreauville (Mile 61.4): Official dock at 119 Bridge St. next to Acadian Odyssey Monument.

New Iberia (Mile 70.9): Official dock at 108 Duperier St. in the city’s Kayak Park.

Jeanerette (Mile 82.0): Official dock located at T.J. Viator City Park off Tarleton Street.

Charenton (Mile 91.0): Official dock at 3726 Chitimacha Trail.

Baldwin dock

Baldwin (Mile 96.0): Official dock located at Charenton Road Park and Recreational Complex.

Franklin (Mile 108.1): Official dock at 700 Teche Dr. in Parc Sur La Teche.

Centerville (Mile 114.0): Official dock at Schawn Park at 514 Parish Road 131.

Patterson (Mile 126.2): Official dock at 1116 Main St. in Morey Park. Note that paddling in this reach is constricted by the Atchafalaya Levee structure at Mile 119 and the Berwick Lock at Mile 133. Clearance must be obtained by the Corps of Engineers to portage these structures. No problem paddling to each structure as the current runs in both directions in this reach, so you can go right or left from the dock depending on how you find the current flowing.

The TECHE Project does not advise paddling below the Berwick Lock unless accompanied by a motorized chase boat. There are significant Atchafalaya River current and commercial boat traffic hazards in this area.
