Bayou Cleanups
The TECHE Project periodically rounds up all willing volunteers to scour the bank of the 125 miles of Bayou Teche to remove tons of garbage from Louisiana’s only National Water Trail. When volunteers show up for a day of work and fun, we provide everything for a successful cleanup: gloves, bags, pickers, snacks and water. Our next cleanup will be May 9, 2026, in Leonville. Meet at the boat launch at 129 Mistric St. at 9 a.m., and we will clean until noon. Bring a kayak or boat if you have one; if not, we will identify spots to be cleaned on land.
