Bayou Teche Paddle Trail
Making Waves
We are improving access for kayaks and canoes along the bayou in partnership with the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. We will begin installation of new floating docks, ramps and make improvements in just a few months. In a second partnership with the Lafayette Metropolitan Planning Organization, we will begin building a new trailhead in Parc des Ponts in Breaux Bridge in 2014, complete with bathrooms and a drinking fountain. This trailhead will serve both paddlers on the BTPT and runners/bicyclists on the Atakapas-Ishak Trail. TECHE Project will present an update to the Breaux Bridge City Council on Tuesday, October 8.
The official BTPT map is near completion at the Louisiana Geologic Survey. Waterproof maps will be available for purchase in early 2014. For more information contact Kristen Kordecki at techeproject@gmail.com. |
