Registration Open for 2nd Geaux Paddle Youth Workshop

Our “Geaux Paddle” recreation program is offering paddling opportunities for kids ages 10-14 on Bayou Teche. The goal of Geaux Paddle is to get kids who have never paddled comfortable with paddling and then out enjoying Bayou Teche, the first National Water Trail in Louisiana! This program will happen on Saturday, June 8, and include safety instruction, an experiment on water testing, paddle to New Iberia City Park and an art project with Margaret Simon. The paddle portion will also teach about wood duck boxes and the importance of providing safe nest sites for reproduction; education on flora and fauna and the importance of native plants; and trash pickup. See the full schedule below.

Advance registration on Eventbrite is required. Refunds for cancellations will not be offered after May 17. Kayaks/canoes, lifejackets and drinks will be provided. If you’d like to bring your own kayak/canoe, just let us know. Participants must bring their own lunch in a waterproof container.
